Downstate Health is introducing a free program that lets you text with nurses to help you set appointments,
get health advice, and answer your health questions.
If you are due for preventive screenings or other appointments, you may receive a
text from a nurse to assist with scheduling.

STAR’s full complement of primary care and specialty services including HIV screening and treatment, HCV screening and treatment, behavioral health and a specialized LGBTQ+ Health Initiative where we offer services unique to LGBTQ+ health needs.
University Hospital at Downstate is proposing to construct a new Women's Health and Birthing Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (approximately 1 mile from the main hospital campus) to improve access to health care in the community.

Volunteer Services at Downstate supports the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Work Learn and Grow Program. The guidelines of these programs are according to the rules and regulations set forth by The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). Effective March 19, 2024, our services at the Lefferts Clinic (initially located at 840 Lefferts Avenue) have been permanently moved to Downstate Health Family Medicine, located at 253 Empire Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11225.
